Patrick Allotey to face GBA Disciplinary Committee today
Ghanaian boxer Patrick Allotey will later today, Wednesday February 5, 2020 find out if his professional license will be temporarily revoked by the Ghana Boxing Authority when he faces the Disciplinary Committee of the regulatory body.
WBO Africa Super welterweight champion Patrick Allotey was captured in a viral video bettering a defenseless Kotoko football fan who has since been identified as Michael Siaw at the Accra Sports Stadium during the Hearts of Oak versus Asante Kotoko Super Clash in Accra on Sunday, January 27.
It has already been a difficult two weeks for Patrick Allotey who was last week arrested by the Ministries Police after a case of battery and assult was brought against him by Michael Siaw who at this point is seen as the victim.
While the civil case before the Police is expected to progress in the coming days, the Ghana Boxing Association will be expected to also drop a sledgehammer on him.
One requirement for the issuance of a boxing license for any boxer is the assurance that his fists which are considered weapons will not be used to inflict harm on any fellow human unless under certain circumstance.
In short, it is an acceptable rule worldwide that a professional boxer cannot engage in a fight with a fellow human, not even another boxer outside of the boxing ring.
Anyone who flouts this ‘golden rule’ is regarded as traitor with little or no respect for the very profession that feeds him.
Such is the magnitude of the ‘crime’ Allotey has committed and it will take a miracle for him to come out with his career unscathed.
While he is expected to be ban for a couple of months or a year at most, it is also highly likely he could get away with just a heavy fine and not a revocation of his licence.
